Overview
About River Street Sweets

For the past 50 years River Street Sweets has been making delectable candies. They started in Savannah Georgia on River Street, thus revealing how they got their name. You can almost call it a happy accident as the story goes that The Strickland family owned a gift shop and went to the Atlanta market to purchase wares for the shop, while at the show their son Tim stumbled across a fudge pot for sale and insisted that his parent buy it.

After much convincing, they bought it and a week later Tim’s sister Jennifer made a patch of mint fudge to sell in the shop for St Patrick’s day. It quickly sold out and the family realized that a candy shop would be a more profitable business than the gift shop so they made the switch.

Tim and Jennifer still run River Street Sweets and their now famous pralines are World Renowned. The pralines are hand dipped and laid on a piece of marble to cool. Currently they attribute 30 million dollars in sales annually. If you have never tried one, it is a treat that you simply must experience.

While you are there, be sure to check out their large collection of sweets including homemade fudge, truffles, bear claws, glazed pecans, brittle, salt water taffy, pecan divinity and log rolls, caramels, candy apples, cakes, pies, pastries, gourmet popcorn, dipped pretzels and more. Buy some for your trip and take some home. You can also order online.
