Though North Myrtle Beach is known as a top vacation destination during the summer season, there is actually a ton of things to do here during the cooler months like January. With mild North Myrtle Beach winter weather, vacationers don’t have to stay wrapped up indoors during the month of January, but can instead take advantage of less crowds, great hotel deals, and plenty of things to do during the off-season.

From exploring the area and golfing to award-winning shows and restaurants, here are ten things to do in North Myrtle Beach in January:

Explore

North Myrtle Beach has a lot to offer, but have you ever thought to explore the surrounding areas? After taking in all the sights and sounds of North Myrtle Beach, check out neighboring towns such as Little River, Cherry Grove, Calabash, and Myrtle Beach. Little River is known as a quaint fishing town renowned for fresh seafood. Cherry Grove, on the other hand, is a quiet beach spot that is beautifully picturesque, and is a great place for surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking, and more.

If you feel like making a short drive across the border, then you can always check out Calabash, North Carolina, known for great shopping and delicious Calabash-style fried seafood. Or, if you don’t mind driving south of North Myrtle Beach, then you and your friends or family will be able to experience the attractions, dining, and entertainment of Myrtle Beach.

There are plenty of places around North Myrtle Beach where you can take your line and pole for some relaxing fishing time. Head on over to the Cherry Grove Pier or the Apache Pier to enjoy an afternoon of pier fishing above the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. Step out of North Myrtle Beach and into the wild at Alligator Adventure. Located at Barefoot Landing, this reptile park features several species of alligators and crocodiles, reptiles, birds, and mammals such as hyenas, lemurs, marmosets, and more. While you’re here, be sure to stop by and see Utan: King of the Crocs; a 2,000 lb, 18-ft hybrid saltwater/Siamese crocodile.
